HMX’s solutions a big hit at Kuwait HVAC-R Contracting Conference
HMX (a part of the A.T.E. Group, India), the world leaders in providing sustainable cooling solutions built on indirect evaporative cooling, participated in a two day conference and catalogue show in Kuwait, together with their channel partner Al Shaya Engineering W.L.L. Spanning two days – 30 September and 1 October 2018 – the Kuwait HVAC-R Contracting Conference was organised by the International Quality and Productivity Centre (IQPC) in partnership with the Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW), the Kuwait Institute of Scientific Research (KISR), and the Kuwait Green Building Council. The event brought together regulators, research institutes, MEP contractors, consultants, and developers to discuss the new MEW Code of 2018 and the latest trends and technologies available for the HVAC community for their existing and upcoming projects.
Mr Sunil Tiwari, General Manager and Head Global Sales and Marketing, HMX, presented a paper titled “Indirect Evaporative Cooling – a fresh approach to energy efficiency in HVAC designs”, at the event. The presentation explained how energy, environment, and the HVAC industry are interrelated and how they can contribute to reducing the carbon footprint. Mr Tiwari explained that holistically re-examining the term “thermal comfort level” opens up several options for energy efficient technologies such as evaporative cooling. His talk also covered different applications of HMX’s cooling solutions using nature’s own refrigerant – water. Cooling schemes, the working principles of the products, and temperature readings at different locations were also shared, reinforcing the effectiveness and benefits of this method of cooling. Case studies of existing installations at locations such as Dubai, Sharjah, Riyadh and India caught the attention of the audience how the increasing demand of HVAC is being successfully and sustainably met by HMX.
Emphasising the need to incorporate alternative cooling technologies in mainstream HVAC designs, Sunil shared the energy saving potential of Indirect Evaporative Cooling (IEC) for fresh air treatment, thus reducing the load on the chillers and condensing units. Audiences were impressed by the fact that for Kuwait’s weather conditions, if used in pre-cooling modules in FAHUs (Fresh Air Handling Units), IEC can bring about a massive reduction of 63% in the cooling load, thus allowing the users to continuously ventilate the indoor environment with fresh air and avoid sick building syndrome, all the while saving energy.
